Garden & Outdoor Lighting for Your Landscape
With the design of a new garden many people forget the
important asset of lighting to change the over-all mood in your new outdoor
space. Lighting can be used to great effect in your new space
to light up beds, borders, pools and focal features.
With the new addition of highly energy efficient LED lights, the garden is not
just a room for daylight, but late evening entertainment
and your outdoor space becomes not only practical when
in seasonal use, but up-lifting on those long winter evenings. There is also the night time security feature element and
the protection of your property. With our normal lighting plans, we have several
switches, which light different aspects of your garden.
All electrical works are carried out by qualified
electricians.
We recommend the use of sealed complete units and any
junction boxes to be sealed with hardening compound or in enclosures rated for outdoor use. Water
will penetrate un-sealed units in time and you then
end up with damaged lighting and further costs. We don't
recommend lighting with transformers for outdoor use, as
moisture will damage the product.
Rather than using coloured light filters, we recommend that you choose
different types of lamps and wattage with varying
intensities to create differing colour tones, where light beams cross or where they interact with shadows.
There are many different effects that can be created, here are a few:
-
Moonlighting – a mild, hidden light source set high
above the ground, which gives a softly lit shadowy
effect.
-
Diffused light - suitable for outside eating areas,
which has a glare-free quality with soft shadows,
usually behind a screen.
-
Spotlighting – to make a feature important in the
garden.
-
Contour lighting - may be used to define a step or path, low
voltage.
